The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) was formed in 1974 and has a membership of over 210,000 nationally with 8,000 members in the Devon Region. It the largest organisation representing small businesses. We are a non-party-political lobby group financed mainly by subscriptions from members who are self-employed and/or owners of small businesses. Our aims are to ensure that government, opposition parties, civil servants and European institutions are aware of the aspirations, problems, needs and wealth creation potential of the small business sector and to provide a voice for small businesses wherever decisions are being made which affect them. The FSB maintains Press and Parliamentary Offices at Westminster, in Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast; an Administration Office in Blackpool and Regional Offices elsewhere in the U.K. We also have an office in Brussels.
FSB members have access to a tremendous package of benefits which gives them advice and support in their businesses as well as saving them money on many of their major business costs.
In Devon we have regular meetings with the MPs and Local Authorities and members are invited to sit on many of the Economic Forums, Local Strategic Partnerships, Town Centre Partnerships and Business Forums. Membership also gives businesses a wonderful networking opportunity through events held around the Region and via our national on line directory.
